Area Girl Scout leaders win awards

The Girl Scouts of Eastern S.C., Conway area, recently gave out two awards.

Tami Burns, leader of Troop 918, was named the 2014 Volunteer of Excellence. Burns has been the leader of the troop for three years and assistant leader for four years. Burns has led her troop through various council events, badge work, cookie sales, and Girl Scout Bronze Award for for Junior level Girl Scouts. The GSESC Volunteer of Excellence must deliver outstanding service as a leader and receive two letters of endorsement.

Jamie Bryant, leader of Troop 516, was named Rookie of the Year. Bryant has been the leader of the troop for just 1 1/2 years, stepping up to lead when the former troop leader resigned unexpectedly. The GSESC Rookie of the Year must be a first- or second-year leader and receive three letters of endorsement.
