Lakes at Litchfield Card Ladies donate to Safehouse
The Card Ladies at The Lakes at Litchfield – 103-year-old Pauline Ward (from left), Greta Ferri and Dean Parker – support efforts to end domestic violence through proceeds from their refurbished greeting card sales. At a recent luncheon, the ladies donated an additional $1,500 to the Family Justice Center of Georgetown County’s Safehouse, with lifetime donations totaling $16,500. They were joined by Family Justice Center of Georgetown County representatives Beverly Kennedy and Vicki Bourus.
The group sells the cards for $2 (those with lace or quilling cost slightly more). They are placed on tables or magazine racks throughout the community, giving people the opportunity to purchase one by placing money in a designated box. “Everything is on the honor system,” Ferri said. “Many individuals recognize and respect our cause by giving above and beyond the set price.”
