James, Bellamy win HGTC awards

Professor Sherry James of Horry-Georgetown Technical College’s Department of Nursing received the 2015 “Faculty of the Year” award during the 49th commencement ceremony held recently at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and MacArthur “Mac” Bellamy received the HGTC 2015 “Staff of the Year” award.

James worked previously for the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control, McLeod Medical Center and Marion Hospital before joining the college full time. Earlier this year, she also received the Palmetto Gold award from the nursing association. She is married to local NAACP President Mickey James.

Bellamy served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring as Sergeant First Class. He attended Central Texas College and, later, HGTC, where he earned certification in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. He worked with AVX in Conway before joining the college in 2002. He and his wife, Glenda Mae, live in Loris.
