Long Bay Power Squadron promotes safe boating

Submitted photo

The Long Bay Power Squadron recognized National Safe Boating Week with a public event on May 16 at Peachtree Landing in Socastee. Members put on life jackets and posed for this photo to remind boaters in the Myrtle Beach area that wearing life jackets saves lives.

This squadron provides free safe-boating courses for the public, performs civic duties, free vessel safety checks and works with NOAA to maintain the nautical charts from Myrtle Beach to McClellanville. As a boating club, it provides social activities for members, as well as many advanced boating courses on the topics of engine maintenance, weather, marine piloting and navigating, to name a few.
