Area students earn Wofford College awards

Two area students received awards at Wofford College’s spring Honors Convocation May 7.

▪ Caroline Anne Barnett of Pawleys Island, daughter of James and Mary Barnett, received the Benjamin Wofford Prize. She is majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing. The Benjamin Wofford Prize is awarded for the novella judged clearly superior in the novel-writing course offered every other year.

▪ Stephanie Iris Vlandis of Myrtle Beach, daughter of William and Penelope Vlandis, received the Peter Allen Moore Award for Strings. She is majoring in accounting. The Peter Allen Moore ’69 Award honors outstanding student achievement in the strings program.
