Mercom donates to local organizations

Mercom Corp. and the Mercado family of Pawleys Island donated more than $150,000 to local organizations in 2014.

There were four significant recipients of the funds:

▪ Coastal Montessori Charter School, a free public school choice open to elementary school students in Georgetown County and established on Montessori and charter philosophies, received $50,000.

▪ Teach My People, a nonprofit organization that provides year-round, high quality, organized programs that are spiritually driven to children at no cost to their families, received $45,000.

▪ Lowcountry Preparatory School, a coeducational K-3 through 12th-grade program that prepares students for college, leadership and life, received $35,000.

▪ Startup.SC brings state funds to the Grand Strand to build a technology startup community and received $25,000.
