Post volunteers make Lenten dinners a success
It takes a village of volunteers at VFW Calabash Post #7288 and a ton of food to host the Lenten Fish Fry Dinners each Friday during the season. There was food preparation, cooking, waiting tables and kitchen clean-up that took volunteers to accomplish, and with the hungry diners ready for the feast, there was literally a ton of food to satisfy them. There were 1,060 pounds of haddock, 810 pounds of French fries and 293 pounds of coleslaw — 2,163 pounds total! The event is a labor of love for all involved, and the Post looks forward to hosting it each year.
