Delays expected for morning motorists on U.S. 17 due to construction and crash
Motorists can expect delays on U.S. 17 Bypass due to construction near Glenns Bay Road and a car crash that occurred at U.S. 17 Bypass and S.C. 544.
The southbound lane on U.S. 17 Bypass from Deerfield Links Drive to the Glenns Bay Road and Holmstown Road intersection is currently closed for repair work, according to Lisa Bourcier, spokeswoman for Horry County.
The southbound lane closed yesterday afternoon for construction work, which may take up to 24 hours, Bourcier said. She also said the repair work is due to washout issues caused by utility boring under the road.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is also working to clear up a car crash that occurred about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at U.S. 17 Bypass and S.C. 544. No injuries were reported in connection with the crash, according to the highway patrol website.
