Submitted photo

Christina Jackson, executive director for the nonprofit organization Sea Haven Inc., recently received the S.C. Association of Non-profit Organizations Award for Excellence in Leadership at the group’s annual conference in Charleston. SCANPO works to bring leaders together to strengthen the state’s entire nonprofit sector. Fred Sheheen, leader of Francis Marion Non-profit Leadership Institute, presented the award to Jackson.

Jackson’s leadership has increased program effectiveness of services for the targeted population of youth served in Horry County for the past 11 years. Jackson is a 2014 graduate of Francis Marion Non-profit Leadership Institute. Sea Haven Inc., incorporated in 1980, has offered services for more than 34 years to runaway, homeless, forgotten youth in the community. It provides emergency crisis intervention services for youth ages 13-21 years who are struggling and at risk of harm while on the streets.
