Neighbor to Neighbor program wins top award
The SCDOT Division of Intermodal Planning awarded the Neighbor to Neighbor program of GRACE Ministries its 2015 Transit Provider of the Year–Human Services category. Since 2008, the Neighbor to Neighbor program has provided more than 24,000 free rides to people who can no longer drive because of their age or disability.
The Neighbor to Neighbor program was chosen this year because it is making a significant impact in communities, and the commitment to accountability has shown results year after year. Services help homebound clients access services such as medical appointments, grocery stores, therapy, dialysis, beauty appointments and even trips to workout centers. Neighbor to Neighbor uses innovative technology and best practices in connecting adults in need with qualified and trained volunteers to promote and maintain independent living.
