Lightning strike in North Myrtle Beach sends man to hospital

One man was rendered unconscious after a close call with a lightning strike on Thursday.

Around 4 p.m., four North Carolina men ranging in age from 31 to 57 were surf fishing on the beach in the 6200 block of North Myrtle Beach when lighting stuck nearby, according to city spokesman Pat Dowling.

None of the men were struck directly, but one man was close enough to be temporarily rendered unconscious and was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
