Baby girl found dead in Aynor

A 4-month old girl was found dead in an Aynor residence on Thursday evening.

According to an Horry County Police report, two officers responded to a residence at 2794 Nichols Highway in response to a call regarding an unresponsive child.

The child was in a car seat on a couch in the living room of the residence, according the report.

By the time the officers responded at 6:45 p.m., EMS had already arrived and determined that the child was dead.

There may be charges later for him and others.

Horry police spokesman Lt. Raul Denis

A witness said that she had taken a nap and left the infant in the care of a babysitter, according to the report.

Horry police spokesman Lt. Raul Denis said that no arrests have been made in the death of the baby, and the investigation is ongoing.

Andrew Wade Johnson, 28, was at the house and arrested for possession of marijuana, but that charge was unrelated to the death of the infant, Denis said.

“The death is still under investigation so there may be charges later for him and others,” Denis said.
