Myrtle Beach City Council to discuss parking Tuesday

Parking issues continue to be a topic of interest for the Myrtle Beach City Council, who will discuss parking at its 2 p.m. meeting Tuesday.

Council may discuss, and possibly vote, on whether to amend an ordinance that would officially remove parking on the east end of Ocean Boulevard along the Golden Mile.

Democratic National Convention begins Monday

The Democratic National Convention will begin Monday in Philadelphia, where the party is expected to nominate Hillary Clinton as their ticket’s candidate for president.

The election is in November.

Republicans just finished their convention in Cleveland, where they nominated Donald Trump to represent the GOP for president.

Art and Craft festival planned for the weekend

The annual Craftsmen’s Summer Classic Art & Craft Festival begins Friday at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and runs through Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults; $1 for kids (6-12). Go to http://www.craftshow.com/ for a $1 adult ticket discount coupon. Your ticket is good for all three days, but you have to pick up a return pass at the show office before leaving. Parking is $5. This event features original works from hundreds of artists and craftspeople from across the U.S.

There will also be artist demonstrations throughout the weekend. Show hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Fashion show set for Saturday

On Saturday, The Market Common is holding a Fashion Show to benefit Hope House from 7-9 p.m. in Valor Park. Tickets are $10. Clothing, accessories and shoes from retailers at The Market Common will be modeled by residents on Grand Strand Magazine’s “Most Stylish” list.

There will also be free appetizers and a cash wine and beer bar featuring pink champagne. Go to http://www.marketcommonmb.com/events/ for tickets.

SummerFest set for Burgess Saturday

Burgess Recreation Center is holding a SummerFest from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for kids (6-12), military and seniors; free for kids 5 and under.

This event includes live entertainment, a waterslide, face painting, games, a petting zoo, food, vendors, bingo, door prizes and more.
