Socastee swing bridge faces nightly closures for repairs

The swing bridge on Dick Pond Road in Socastee will be closed at night for mechanical repairs starting Tuesday.

Kimberly Corey with the South Carolina Department of Transportation said that the bridge will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The closings will last through Aug. 12 as SCDOT completes mechanical repairs.

“There may also be extended times when the road closure is necessary,” Corey said in a news release.
