Surfside Beach offers safe place to exchange internet purchases
Surfside Beach has designated a safe public place to exchange items purchased online.
A designated area, well-lit, marked with a sign and under constant video surveillance, is located in the Surfside Beach Town Hall parking lot at 115 Highway 17 N.
“This area is well-lit and video recorded 24-hours-a-day,” Surfside Beach Police Chief Rodney Keziah said in a news release Thursday. “We encourage our residents or anyone in this area who participates in these types of transactions to take advantage of this location. Please don’t meet strangers at private residences or in areas with which you are unfamiliar.”
“We were able to provide this service using our existing lighting and surveillance camera infrastructure. No additional funding was needed for this project,” Keziah continued. “This is just another avenue made available to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors”.
