New welcome home celebration for Coastal Carolina baseball team to be announced
Coastal Carolina University fans and supporters are invited to join CCU as a welcome home motorcade ushers in the Chanticleers when they return home from the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The team was expected home Thursday, but after the final game was postponed due to weather, new plans have yet to be announced.
Fans can cheer on the Chanticleers when they arrive home at the General Aviation gate of the Myrtle Beach International Airport at 1250 Airdrome Avenue in The Market Common area, according to a news release.
Police vehicles, and fire trucks will escort the team motorcade as it travels through Conway, and fans are encouraged to line the streets around the downtown center and cheer on the motorcade as it passes.
The team will continue on to CCU, arriving at the main entrance of TD Sports Complex on West Chanticleer Drive, and fans will form a gauntlet to cheer on the team, beginning at the Chauncey statue leading to Springs Brooks Baseball Stadium.
The official welcome home ceremony will then be in the stadium. In case of inclement weather, the official welcome home ceremony will be at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center.
