Portion of Myrtle Beach area no longer under no-swim advisory
An Horry County beach is no longer under a no-swim advisory because bacteria levels have returned to normal, state water quality officials said Thursday evening.
The Arcadia Beach area was placed under a no-swim advisory by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control on Wednesday evening after high levels of bacteria were detected.
“Bacteria levels have returned to normal. The affected area included 200 feet above and below the Lands End Resort of Arcadia Beach in Horry County,” stated Sean Torrens of DHEC's Pee Dee Environmental Quality Control office in Myrtle Beach
The high levels of bacteria could have been caused from heavy rains that have fallen throughout the Myrtle Beach area, he said.
“Normal activity can resume in this area,” said Torrens.
