Officials find body of missing boater in Murrells Inlet

The body of a missing boater was found Tuesday, a night after a vessel struck a channel marker in Murrells Inlet on Monday night.

The body of 17-year-old Jacob Causey was discovered shortly before noon on Tuesdsay.

At about 8 p.m. a small boat hit Channel Marker 57 just north of Wacca Wache Marina at 1950 Wachesaw Road in Murrells Inlet, said Carrie Weaver, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

Two men were on board and one was found immediately after the crash, Weaver said.
