A pedestrian on a skateboard was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by an Horry County police car early Saturday morning.
The crash happened about 3:50 a.m. on U.S. 17 and Queens Harbour Boulevard, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with “serious injuries,” Collins said.
The skateboarder was in the roadway illegally, so no charges are expected to be filed against the officer, Collins said.
The incident remains under investigation by the highway patrol.
