Murrells Inlet woman killed in wreck on Highway 707

A 74-year-old woman was killed in a car crash Friday afternoon, and the S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating.

Carole Bishop, of Murrells Inlet, died from trauma at 12:37 p.m. Friday, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler. The accident occurred at 12:05 p.m. at the intersection of Knollwood Drive and Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet.

Bishop was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Fowler said.

The accident happened when a 2002 Ford four-door pulled out of the driveway of a private business in front of a 2014 Mack truck, according to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The Ford failed to yield to the truck and was hit on the driver’s side, which killed Bishop. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, Collins said.

The truck driver was not injured and no charges are expected in this case. The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
