One person died in a Longs-area house fire Friday night, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.
Jamey Earl Babson, 40, of Longs died at the scene of the house fire on Loop Circle in the Longs area around 9 p.m. after the fire broke out, Tony Hendrick, Horry County deputy coroner said.
An autopsy performed Saturday morning showed signs of smoke inhalation, but authorities are waiting on results of all other tests before Babson’s final cause of death is officially determined, Hendrick said.

Horry County Fire Rescue firefighters found the home to be fully involved when they arrived on the scene around 9 p.m., Brian VanAernem, spokesman with HCFR said.
No one else was in the home when the fire broke out, VanAerem said.
Crews remained on the scene for roughly three hours, and one firefighter suffered a minor injury, VanAernem said.
The cause has yet to be determined, and Horry County police are investigating the incident, which is standard protocol when there is a death involved with a fire, VanAernem said.
