Little River best friends split $250,000 winning lottery ticket

South Carolina Lottery

Two women who have been best friends for 50 years got a little closer in Little River on Thursday.

Suzie Mans and Debbie Duncan bought Lady Luck scratch-off tickets at Lowes Foods on Pavilion Drive in Little River and luck was surely on their side. Friday, they drove to Columbia to cash a $250,000 winning ticket.

“It’s what best friends do,” Mans said of the decision to share the prize money.

The pair grew up together, worked together and even retired.

Duncan scratched the winner, turning to Mans and saying, “I’ve got a winner, and I think you’ll be happy with this,” according to a press release.

The pair plan to take a trip with their husbands with the winnings from the ticket. The odds of winning a quarter of a million dollars was 1 in 696,000.

Another $250,000 Lady Luck winning ticket was sold earlier this month in Little River at the Speedway on Highway 9 East.
