Nearly 2,000 Horry Electric Cooperative customers are without power in the Little River area Saturday afternoon after a car crashed into a power pole.

The crash occurred about 2 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 57 and Highway 111, and while power was knocked out for about 1700 Horry County Electric Cooperative customers, no one was reportedly injured in the crash, according to Capt. John Fowler with Horry County Fire Rescue.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene, and deputies are directing traffic as electric company crews work to restore power, which could take up to six hours, authorities said.

Crews urged customers and motorists to be patient as they worked on power restoration.
