An estimated 3,000 classic cars will hit the ocean strip Thursday for the 28th annual Run to the Sun Car Show parade.

The procession of pickups and antique autos will cruise up Ocean Boulevard from 3301 S. Ocean Blvd. north beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Run to the Sun Car Show will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the former Myrtle Square Mall site between 21st Avenue North and 29th Avenue North on North Kings Highway.

The Pee Dee Street Rodders’ show brings thousands of classic-car enthusiasts from around the country together each March. The show also raises money for the Children’s Miracle Network and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Last year, the show raised $98,000 for charities.

The Run to the Sun Car Show is considered to be one of the largest classic car shows in the Southeast.
