No one was injured in an early morning mobile home fire that briefly shut down U.S. 701 while Horry County Fire Rescue workers battled the blaze, and the cause is still under investigation.
HCFR crews responded about 5 a.m. to the single-wide mobile home fire on the 4200 block of U.S. 701 in the Conway area and found the structure engulfed in flames when they arrived, Lt. Brian VanAernem, with HCFR said.
All occupants made it out safely, and no one was harmed, VanAernem said.
Conway Fire Department provided mutual aid, and the big blaze was quickly extinguished, though U.S. 701 was closed for about an hour while crews worked.
Crews are still investigating the cause and said it was too soon to say how it got started, VanAernem said.
The American Red Cross is assisting the occupants, and VanAernem said the home was likely a total loss.
