State Sen. Luke Rankin will face some opposition in June’s Republican primary.

Businessman Scott Pyle on Monday announced he will challenge the Myrtle Beach lawmaker, who has served in the senate since 1993.

“I’m running to bring a common sense business approach to government,” Pyle said in a news release announcing his campaign for the District 33 seat. “I will fight for term limits, real ethics reform, comprehensive tax reform and to represent our district better and ensure Horry County gets back our fair share of money we send to Columbia.”

Pyle is the CEO of Pyle Financial Services. He and his wife Pamela have three daughters, two sons and five grandchildren.

The primary is scheduled for June 14.
