Parking fees could be on the rise in Surfside Beach
Parking fees could be on the rise in Surfside Beach.
The town council is set to consider the final reading of an ordinance that would increase parking fees in the town’s lots and limit parking along Surfside Drive to one hour with free spaces.
Surfside Beach Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers at 115 U.S. 17 Business North.
The council concurred to consider a plan to increase the town’s parking fees by 50 cents at a workshop Feb. 12. The board adopted a first reading of the parking fee ordinance Feb. 23, asking the town’s staff to clarify the specific areas of Surfside Drive where parking will be limited to one hour and with a provision that would allow residents, who have parking decals to have free, unlimited access to Surfside Drive.
The board also asked staff to exempt the parking changes in the C-2 business district from U.S. 17 to Poplar Drive and clarify the parking rules for the area between Poplar Drive and Hollywood Drive.
