HCFR battled mobile home fire Tuesday morning in Conway area

Suspicious circumstances surround a fire that ignited at Brown’s Mobile Home Park on Tuesday morning in the Conway area, a fire official said.

“We have reason to believe it’s a suspicious fire based on the location of the fire inside the structure,” Assistant Fire Chief Justin Gibbins said.

Horry County Fire Rescue crews were called about 9:46 a.m. to a single-wide mobile home on Clubhouse Road, off French Collins Road, near U.S. 501 Business, inside Brown’s Mobile Home Park. Crews arrived within four minutes of the call and found a working fire with flames reaching out through one window, Gibbins said.

Conway Fire Department provided mutual aid. The fire was quickly extinguished, but officials said the blaze, which broke out while the occupants were at work, seemed suspicious in nature because of the location and other factors.

No one was injured in the blaze, which is still under investigation by fire authorities and police.
