The primary election for Democrats and Republicans vying for their party’s nod for president later this year is slated for Tuesday.
It is the first in a series of presidential primaries nationwide.
Home show scheduled for this weekend at convention center
The Horry Georgetown Home Builders Association’s 36th annual Home Show will fill the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, at Oak Street and 21st Avenue North, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $5 ages 16 and older, otherwise free. Scheduled presentations are: Friday – “Heart & Soul Food,” 11 a.m. with Mike Chestnut; “A Lifetime Love of Myrtle Beach,” noon with Billy Roberts; “Romancing with Wine,” 1 p.m. with Randi Rimedio; “Food for Romance,” 2 p.m. with Tom Mullally; and “Chocolate for the One You Love!” 3 p.m. with Geoff Blount.
On Saturday, “For the Love of Daylilies,” 11 a.m. with Ed Zahler and Duane Therrien; “2016 HGTV Dream Home,” 1 p.m. with John Hanna and Brian Hardee; “Spring Edible Gardening,” 2 p.m. with Kris Reynolds; and “Lawn Care,” 3 p.m. with Gary Forrester.
On Sunday, “Remodel Your Home for a Lifetime ,” noon with Yvonne Yates; “Container Gardening,” 1 p.m with Forrester; “Designing for Today’s Technology,” 2 p.m. with Kadin Karschner and Stacy Davis; and “Palm Trees 101,” 3 p.m. with David Wroten.

Kasich making a stop along Grand Strand
Ohio Gov. John Kasich will participate in several presidential candidate town hall meetings Thursday along the Grand Strand to advance his South Carolina campaign for the Republican Party’s nomination.
Kasich’s first stop will be at 9 a.m. in Pawleys Island at Applewood House of Pancakes, followed by a noon luncheon at Carrabba’s Italian Grill in North Myrtle Beach, and a 5 p.m. appearance in Florence at the Francis Marion University Thomasson Auditorium in the Lee Nursing Building.
