Fatality reported in fire at Myrtle Beach home
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is investigating a fire that broke out in a Chester Street duplex, killing an occupant inside the structure Sunday morning.
The Myrtle Beach Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 403 Chester Street around 11 a.m., arriving to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the home’s exterior, said Lt. Christian Sliker of MBFD.

Crews battled fierce winds to extinguish the blaze fueled by the gales, bringing the fire under control within an hour.
There was one confirmed fatality and the fire is under investigation, Sliker said.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard was working to identify the victim and notify family members Sunday afternoon.
