Rain should clear up Friday afternoon, temps to stay in upper 40s

Rainy skies along the Grand Strand should clear up by Friday afternoon, but temperatures will stay below the 50 degree mark.

Reid Hawkins, science officer with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, said there’s a slight chance of rain Friday morning but everything should dry out by the afternoon.

“We should be clearing out and becoming partly cloudy by the afternoon, with gusty winds that may reach 30 mph,” Hawkins said.

Rain storms will last until midnight Thursday with possible showers in the early morning, Hawkins said. Temperatures will remain in the upper 40s with lows in the lower 30s during the night, he said.

The Grand Strand averaged about 2.24 inches of rain over the past two days, Hawkins said.
