Pedestrian killed on U.S. 501 Wednesday night identified
A 45-year-old man was hit and killed by the driver of a truck on U.S. 501 Wednesday night.
Anthony Lamonte Thompson of Salters was fatality struck about 10:20 p.m. on U.S. 501 southbound near the Forestbrook Road exit and died at the scene from injuries he suffered during the crash, officials said.
The 25-year-old driver of a 2008 Dodge truck was traveling south on U.S. 501 when Thompson came into the roadway and was struck and killed, South Carolina Highway Patrol authorities said.
The driver of the truck was uninjured, according to SCHP troopers.
The crash remains under investigation.
