Disaster Recovery Symposium slated for this week

The third annual Disaster Recovery Symposium for area businesses is Friday at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and includes lunch. For registration and other information, including a speakers’ roster, visit www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/disasterrecovery.pdf. The cost is $25 through Thursday or $30 at the door on the day of the event.

Republican presidential candidates debate Thursday

Fox News will host a debate for Republican presidential candidates at 9 p.m. Thursday at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines .The moderators will be Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace.

County public safety to discuss gangs, bike week

The Horry County Public Safety Committee will meet at 9 a.m. Monday and is scheduled to hear reports on bike week and the county’s gang task force.

The meeting will be in the council conference room

Pro Bowl set for Sunday

The NFL Pro Bowl, where some of the league’s best football players are drafted by retired players, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday. It will be broadcasted on ESPN.

Players from the teams playing in next week’s Super Bowl will not be in action.
