Williams-Sonoma closing, new businesses arriving at The Market Common
The open spaces and local downtown feel of The Market Common is drawing in two new businesses to the unique neighborhood however another popular shop will be closing its doors next week.
The Brass Tap opened Monday at 3090 Deville Street and the Black Dog Running Company is relocating from downtown Myrtle Beach to 1600 Farrow Parkway.
Williams-Sonoma on Howard Avenue, the only store in the gourmet chain operating in the Myrtle Beach area, will close next week, said Katherine Taylor, marketing coordinator for The Market Common.
The store manager for the popular gourmet food and cookware market could not be reached for comment.
As for which retailer might be moving into that prime real estate slot, Taylor declined to say.
“We have a lot of potential retailers,” Taylor said. “I can’t disclose anything yet but something is in the works.”
Jaimal Patel, one of the owners of The Brass Tap, said The Market Common lifestyle and local draw is what convinced them to invest in the area.
It’s more pedestrian friendly over there.

Black Dog Running Company“Market Common aligns with our same ideas — it’s more for locals,” Patel said.
The pub atmosphere will feature live music beginning Saturday night when the grand opening is officially celebrated.
However, patrons began filing in Monday an hour after the restaurant opened their doors to the public for the first time to sample the burgers, sandwiches and salads on the menu while watching sports on the big screen televisions that cover the walls.
The restaurant offers 60 craft brews on tap, featuring numerous local brands that include New South, Holy City, Westbrook, and River Dog.
Black Dog Running Company will move from its current location from the corner of U.S. 501 and Broadway to a strip center off Farrow Parkway near The Market Common this weekend and will open for business there Monday.
Owner Daniel Brass said the store needs more retail space and The Market Common is a popular neighborhood for runners and walkers.
“It’s more pedestrian friendly over there,” Brass said.
