Update: Power restored to thousands in Longs area
Thousands were without power in the Longs area Thursday morning after an electric pole was broken in a car crash, according to an Horry Electric Cooperative Inc. Twitter post.
The electric company reported that 3,458 of its customers suffered an outage after the crash that happened about 8:05 a.m. at S.C. 905 and Bear Grass Road. As of 10 a.m. the company’s outage map showed no power issues.
HEC crews are waiting for law enforcement to clear the scene so they can begin installing a new pole.
