The owner of the original Eggs Up Grill in Pawleys Island has sold the South Carolina flagship restaurant to focus on expanding the growing franchise of his breakfast shops.

Chris Skodras said that with 13 Eggs Up Grills now operating in South Carolina and Georgia, and with the opening of six new restaurants planned for new locations including North Carolina, he intends to devote his efforts to franchising even more of the restaurants in 2016.

With the sale of the Pawleys Island restaurant, all of the eateries are now owned through franchises. Skodras did not reveal who will take over the Pawleys Island business, but said in a statement that it had been purchased by an existing Eggs Up Grill owner with extensive experience as a franchise owner.

Skodras opened the first Eggs Up Grill in Rhode Island in 1986, then moved the restaurant to Pawleys island in 1997. Skodras created Egg Ventures and began franchising the restaurant in 2006.
