A man who recently came forward to claim his $400,000-prize after purchasing a winning Palmetto Cash 5 token ticket at a Conway Sunhouse convenience store said he could barely speak when he told his wife the news.

“I freaked out,” said the winner’s wife, when her husband told her they were $400,000 richer, according to a press release.

The couple celebrated their winnings with family who was still in town for Thanksgiving, the release said.

“And we partied,” said the winner, who’s played Palmetto Cash 5 every day for the last four years according to the release. “I like playing even more so now,” he said to lottery officials Monday when he cashed in his winning ticket for Saturday’s drawing, which included winning numbers: 1, 2, 14, 15, and 38, according to the release.

He may spend his current winnings on a new car for his wife along with a trip to Disney World with his grandchildren.

The extra dollar he spent to “power-up” his $100,000 prize was quadrupled to $400,000 when a “4” multiplier was selected, officials said.

The odds of winning $400,000 in playing Palmetto Cash 5 are about 1 in 4 million, according to the release.

“He is lucky,” said the wife with a wink.

The Sunhouse convenience store on S.C. 90 in Conway received a commission of $4,000 for selling the winning ticket, officials said.
