Holiday festivities continue throughout the Strand

Conway Downtown Alive presents “Rivertown Christmas Celebration,” from 6-8 p.m. on first three Thursdays in December for free, including city hall tree lighting at 6 p.m. Thursday, “Living Window” displays 6-8 p.m. Dec. 10, canine Christmas costume contest 7 p.m. Dec. 17 on Third Avenue, and horse-drawn carriage rides from Laurel Street and Fourth Avenue; and “Conway Holiday Tour of Homes,” 3-7 p.m. Sunday across five sites, from home base at First United Methodist Church at 1101 Fifth Ave., for $15. 843-248-6260 or conwayalive.com.

The Stage Left Theatre Company will present “Miracle on South Division Street,” opening Thursday at 8 p.m. and continuing Thursdays-Saturdays and 3 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays through Dec. 20, at the theater, 3064 DeVille St., Myrtle Beach, in The Market Common, between Nevers and Lewis streets, next to Coastal Dance Centre. Santorum in Myrtle Beach today

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) will make several stops along the Grand Strand today for tours of several companies and chats with area students.

Santorum will tour BauschLinnemann manufacturing in Myrtle Beach and visit with executives and employees at 9 a.m., followed by a tour of PTR Industries, which manufactures guns, at 11:45 a.m.

At 3:30 p.m. the presidential candidate will speak to students at Coastal Carolina University – hosted by Coastal Carolina Conservatives – in the Lib Jackson Student Union Room A201.

Santorum will wrap up his day by offering the keynote address to Christians United for Israel event at Journey Church and Conference Center, 10607 SC-707, in Myrtle Beach.

All four events are open to the public.

Deadline for flood victims approaching

The deadline to apply for federal assistance needed after the October flood is Friday.

Residents can also call FEMA’s disaster help line at 1-800-621-3362 to speak with a FEMA representative. They can visit www.disasterassistance.gov to determine if they are eligible for assistance.

Loris city elections Tuesday

The cit yof Loris will be voting Tuesday on who their next mayor will be and which three of six candidates will be chosen to serve on the city council.

The three mayoral candidates in the nonpartisan election are Henry Buck Nichols, George Protz, and Michael E. Suggs. Voters will select three of the following candidates for city council: Michael C. Dozier, Joan S. Gause, Thessalonia Graham, Jerry L. Hardee, Kimberly Rudelitch and Jan Vescovi.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
