The week ahead: What you need to know
Time to fall back
Clocks will turn back an hour at 2 a.m. Sunday as daylight-saving time ends, so remember to turn any old-school clocks back an hour before you go to sleep Saturday. Fire officials encourage you to use the beginning and ending of daylight-saving time as a reminder to check the batteries in your smoke detectors.
CCU hosting education forum
Coastal Carolina University’s Spadoni College of Education will host a public forum on “The State of Education in South Carolina” from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman is the keynote presenter. Her talk will be followed by a panel discussion with Randall Dozier, Georgetown County schools superintendent; Rick Maxey, Horry County schools superintendent; Kristi Kibler, a Georgetown teacher and Joey Trail, 2015-16 Horry County Teacher of the Year.
The forum will address current educational initiatives and issues relevant to teaching and student learning. To register online, go to http://goo.gl/forms/nVKGzBG7nY or contact Lynne Brock at 843-349-2629.
