North Myrtle Beach paving projects delayed by rain set to begin

Numerous road paving projects postponed by record rainfall earlier this month will get underway in the next few days in North Myrtle Beach prompting some lane closures.

“We won't have entire roads blocked or shut down, the paving companies around here are used to accommodating traffic as roads are repaired,” said North Myrtle Beach spokesman Pat Dowling.

“It may seem inconvenient, but at the end, your road is paved — always keep that thought in the foreground,” Dowling said.

Paving will begin on 60th Avenue North, 58th Avenue North, 57th Avenue North, 54th Avenue North, and Nixon Street.

The second round of paving includes 34th Avenue North and Ameron Court, followed by 6th Avenue South, Havens Drive, 14th Avenue South, and Possum Trot Road.

The project price tag is $820,000, of which North Myrtle Beach will contribute $380,000 and the Horry County Transportation Committee will kick in $440,000 from state gas tax revenues.
