Annual bog-off festival on Saturday

The Loris Bog-Off Festival kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday on Main Street in Loris.

The festival includes a chicken bog cooking contest, 200 vendors, including food, arts and crafts, a large kid’s pavillion, a car show, fireworks and a concert.

Mini-marathon, Doggie Dash set for Saturday

Mini-marathon weekend begins Saturday and starts at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes, 8121 Amalfi Place, Myrtle Beach.

The Coastal 5K begins at 7:30 a.m., with the milelong Doggie Dash benefit for Grand Strand Humane Society starting at 9:15 a.m.

Sail away with Georgetown Wooden Boat Show

The 26th annual Georgetown Wooden Boat Show, benefiting the S.C. Maritime Museum in Georgetown (729 Front St., open 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, for free – scmaritimemuseum.org), is 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday on Front Street in Georgetown, with free admission.

CNN hosts first Democratic debate Tuesday

The first Democratic presidential debate will be at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on CNN and CNNgo.

The first debate is in Nevada. CNN’s is the first of six planned that the Democratic Party has announced. The closest debate to the Grand Strand is January 17 and will be hosted by NBC and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in Charleston.
