Roads closed in Horry, Georgetown counties

Heavy rain beat up the infrastructure in Horry and Georgetown counties, causing sinkholes to form and bridges to collapse while some roads are flooded and impassable.

Check back often as this list will be updated when new information comes in to the newsroom.

All motorists are encouraged to stay off the roadways, however, if you have to get out be aware of the following closures. See a map of statewide road closures here.

For Horry County as of 8 a.m. Tuesday from South Carolina Department of Transportation:

▪  Hwy 1008 from: Evans Ave. to: Evans Estate Dr. - Closed due to road washout at bridge.

▪  Old Reaves Ferry Rd. from: SC 905 to: End State Maintenance - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Depot Road from: US 501 Business to: US 501 Business - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Waccamaw Drive from: US 501 to: Dead End - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Lee Landing from: SC 90 to: S-1183 - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Lee’s Landing Road from: S-901 Lee''s Landing Rd. Mile Point:00.00 to: S-1135 Lee''s Landing Rd.Mile Point:00.90 - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Lee’s Landing Road from: SC 90 Mile Point:00.00 to: S-1183 Lee''s Landing Rd. Mile Point:02.15 - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Long Ave. Ext. from: Hwy 501 Business Mile Point:00.00 to: S-961 Rainwood Rd. Mile Point:02.99 - Closed due to flooding.

Please remember to stay out of areas that are closed and follow directions of officers and traffic direction signs. Moving barricades or driving around them is dangerous and illegal.

For Georgetown County as of 8 a.m. Tuesday from South Carolina Department of Transportation:

▪  Pennyroyal Road from: S-39 (Montford Road) to: S-486 (Sunfish Street) - Closed due to road washout.

▪  Gapway Road from: Kent Road to: Cherry Street - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Plantersville Road from: Choppee Road to: Fraser Street U.S.701 - Closed due to flooding.

▪  Old Pee Dee Road from: Hicks Dr. to: Carvers Bay Road - Closed due to flooding.
