Surfside Police Department hosts public safety checkpoint
The Surfside Police Department hosted a public safety checkpoint Saturday night.
The checkpoint was held on Glenn’s Bay Road, west of Highway 17 Business, and was part of the statewide Law Enforcement Network highway safety program.
“The regularly scheduled checkpoints move around to different parts of the two-county area, and are designed solely for the purpose of improving motorist safety,” said Rodeny Keziah, Surfide Beach Chief of Police. “These operations not only publicize local agencies’ dedication to highway safety, but deter dangerous offenses such as driving under the influence and reckless driving.”
Officers from almost every law enforcement agency in Horry and Georgetown Counties participated.
