Power restored to Myrtle Beach areas affected by outage
About 6,790 were without power in Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach and Carolina Forest Wednesday afternoon.
Santee Cooper reported an outage of more than 6,000 customers Wednesday around 2:40 p.m., according to its online database. Power was restored around 5:30 p.m.
Businesses around Coastal Grand Mall and Seaboard Street were also affected.
Many intersections around Myrtle Beach were out for a few minutes, police said.
Myrtle Beach police informed people of the outages in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon.
“We are experiencing multiple power outages at various intersections within the city,” the post said. “Officers are responding to these locations as quickly as possible.”
Myrtle Beach International Airport also experienced outages but no flights were canceled or delayed, said Ryan Betcher, airport spokesman.
