Florida man identified as person found dead in Sampit River
A Florida man was identified as the person who was found floating Monday in the Sampit River in Georgetown, authorities said.
Steven D. Dansby, 58, of Fort Myers, Fla., died from drowning, according to the Georgetown County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators with the Georgetown Police Department received surveillance video from along the city’s Harbor Walk and saw Dansby at 2:18 a.m. Sunday disappearing behind an area near the office of the Georgetown Times, Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said.
The location is where authorities found Dansby’s body on Monday, Johnson said. No foul play is expected in Dansby’s death, but officials continue to investigate.
