Loris man dead after car crash on S.C. 9 Monday night

A Loris man died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center Monday night after a car crash on S.C. 9 near Highway 747, according to Michelle McSpadden, deputy coroner with Horry County.

Dennis Michael Dew, 57, of Loris, died from injuries he suffered during the crash, which happened at 5:17 p.m. Monday, officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Dew was driving west from Highway 747 in a 2011 Ford pickup when he pulled out onto S.C. 9 and was struck on the left side by the 41-year-old driver of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, officials said.

The man driving the Tahoe was also taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with injuries, but there was no information about his identity or condition available on Tuesday.

This fatal crash is still under investigation by the SCHP.
