Road projects that will impact traffic kicking off this week
Drivers should watch out for road projects that will impact traffic starting this week.
Eastbound lanes on Robert Edge Parkway in North Myrtle Beach from U.S. 17 to beyond the bridge were scheduled to be shut down at 11:59 p.m. Monday and will be closed for about two weeks. Drivers will not be able to enter North Myrtle Beach from Robert Edge Parkway and will be directed to use S.C. 22 to U.S. 17 or S.C. 90 to S.C. 9.
Work will be done on the concrete that approaches the bridge on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway and is expected to last through Sept. 30. Crews will be repairing the approach slabs, replacing and upgrading the expansion joint seals and replacing the damaged slope protection.
And in Myrtle Beach, lanes will be shifted and there will be no off-season parking on Ocean Boulevard between Second Avenue North and Ninth Avenue North starting Wednesday. Traffic will be down to one lane in both directions.
Crews will be installing underground cables, and in some places, new sidewalks and pavement. Work is expected to last all winter.
