Body found in Georgetown’s Sampit River Labor Day morning
Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson said he does not suspect foul play in the death of a man found floating in the Sampit River in Georgetown Monday morning.
“We didn’t see anything that looked really suspicious,” Johnson said, adding he could not release the name of the white male because next of kin had not been notified. “We don’t suspect any type of foul play.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
At about 8 a.m. Monday, police were called to the 500 block of Front Street for a body floating in the Sampit River.
