Police investigate counterfeit bills at Myrtle Beach stores

Myrtle Beach police are investigating counterfeit bills at two stores on Kings Highway.

The first incident happened at the Food Lion in the 1400 block of South Kings Highway about 11:30 Friday morning.

The suspect allegedly brought a drink to the register and gave the clerk a $20 bill.

When the clerk marked the bill it read counterfeit. The man then paid for his drink with change and left the store.

The second incident happened about 12:15 Friday morning at the Dollar Tree in the 700 block of South Kings Highway.

The suspect allegedly gave the clerk a $20 bill that read counterfeit.

After the clerk informed him of the counterfeit bill, he walked out of the store.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a black male wearing a white hat, blue and gray striped shirt and black shorts.
