Power restored after outage in Horry County

More than 2,000 Horry Electric Cooperative customers were without power early Monday in the Socastee area, according to officials.

The outage was reported at 6:37 a.m. Monday and it was restored by 8:30 a.m. The outage impacted 2,021 customers served by the Lake Ridge substation.

Lightning struck an arrestor in the substation to cause the outage, officials said.

“Repairs crews are on the road with a replacement part and bucket truck. We hope to have everything repaired and back in place in about an hour,” Horry Electric officials posted on Facebook at 7:47 a.m. Monday. “We know it is inconvenient and understand the frustration.”

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
